About the Future of the Planet
Them:
“Are you feeling broadly optimistic about humanity and the future of the planet? Did you sleep well last night?”
Me:
“Inevitable Demise.
That’s the fate of anything left in human hands.
Anything useful to us.
That can’t fight back.
The Earth we depend on to eat.
But that lives and grows slowly.
Demise.
The Water we depend on to power us.
But that lives and grows slowly.
Demise.
The Air we depend on to breathe.
But that lives and grows slowly.
Demise.
That’s the fate of anything left in human hands.
Because to be human is to be greedy.
To be human is to want everything now.
Our lives are short. So we want everything now!
But Earth, Water, Air take their time.
And so we do not understand each other.
Because greed and time are like night and day.
Never to meet. Never to speak. Never to understand. Never to cohabit.
And that is why it makes no sense for me to worry.
Because some things are inevitable.
Like demise in the hands of humans.
I think about the demise of Earth, Water, Air in our hands.
And I sleep easy.
Because some things are inevitable.
I may try to do what’s right now.
But some things are inevitable.
Because greed and time are like night and day.
Inevitable Demise.
That’s the fate of anything left in human hands.
And I sleep easy.”
